You Must Become, Before you Can Have, Do or Be

I am in Australia at the moment attending a Wayne Dyer, 2 week personal development program. It is astounding to listen to Dr. Dyer deliver an incredible message about the need to become before you can have, do or be. This message is really similar to the message offered by another great philosopher, best-selling author and personal achievement legend, Jim Rohn, who said “Set a goal to become a millionaire not for the goal of being a millionaire, but for what it requires of you to achieve it” These two great teachers are asking us to stop our relentless pursuit of success and instead to search, discover and then become what we need to be to attract the success we desire.
Since I adopted this philosophy a few years ago, my life has really taken off and as I invest my time into becoming, rather than acquiring, incredible results have turned up in my life. The same is possible for you if you stop pursuing and start becoming. Experience has shown me that anything you pursue will elude you, whilst as you grow and become, everything seems to miraculously become attracted to you. The people, resources and everything you need seem to just miraculously gravitate toward you.
The real reward for setting goals and getting clarity about what you want in your future, is that you have the information necessary to finally develop a clear picture in your mind, about who and what you need to become, in order to attract exactly that into your life. The success, results and outcomes you get to enjoy are merely the wonderful by product of your becoming. So invest time in 2012 to become who and what you need to be, rather than looking to turn this into a year where you finally achieve extraordinary results.
As you strive to become more or rather to grow into the person you need to be to attract the success you desire, it is crucial that you create a crystal clear idea of what success really means to you and that you write this down. As you think it, be fastidious and Ink it. Everything that exists today was created at least twice. There is always the need to create it as a picture in your mind’s eye first and then to turn this into your reality. It is obvious that the better the quality of the picture you create in your mind, before you even start your journey i.e. the more detail you can put into this part of the success journey the better the final result will be.
Do not start to turn your dreams into brick and mortar, until you have the best blueprint possible. Each day as you pull out your blue print for success, from the construction shed of your future, think first about investing time into becoming and secondly investing effort into doing. Always keep the end result or outcome in mind and ensure that you are consistently moving along the path of becoming and growing, the rest will just fall into place along the way.
Jim Rohn put it so well when he said “If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us."
You will only ever achieve what you aim to or plan to achieve. So aim high, have big expectations, keep preparing, learning and growing, adding to your knowledge and experience along the way and simply become more. Your journey toward attracting any level of success is really simple, once you understand that success is a process of becoming and not pursuing.
