Make 2012 the Year for Your Success Adventure

Welcome to 2012, you are on the threshold of an amazing adventure, a journey of discovery and creation, where you are going to turn 2012 into your best year ever. All the behaviours, philosophies, actions and attitudes from the past, which have got you to where you are today, will not get you to where you want to go tomorrow. It is time to finally commit to a lifetime of on-going growth and development, where you strive to continually develop new success habits, skills and abilities, to support your dreams and goals for the future. If there is only one thing you change in 2012, change your attitude toward on-going learning and development. Make growth, learning and skill development your top priority in 2012 and beyond.
Although our lives are not marked off in even 365 day intervals, where everything starts on the 1 January every year and ends 365 days later on 31 December. We have trained ourselves to work in cycles of twelve months and although your future transcends years and will expand into decades and beyond, it is a good idea to use the cycle we have become accustomed to as a starting point for creating the perfect circumstances for your future. Life and your future success is a continuous process of growth, development and managing the inevitable change and challenge that will cross your path.
As 2011 ends and a New Year dawns it is a good time to evaluate your progress to date, assess al your accomplishments, see what has worked for you and revaluate all the areas that need improvement. These changing times we live in, dictate that if we remain the way we are, we are in fact going backwards. Knowledge and the pace of life around is changing so rapidly that if we do not work to improve our knowledge, skills and abilities every day, we are in fact going backwards. The changes and pace of growth is so rapid that, 60 % of jobs that exist today, did not even exist in 2004. Imagine what things will look like in 2015 and beyond.
Are you keeping up with the change and the explosion of new knowledge and technologies all around you? If you are not completely committed to staying abreast of all changes that are going on around you and you just continue to coast through 2012 and beyond, you will be falling further and further behind. You can only coast in one direction.
To really improve from this moment on and get the best from your efforts in the future, stop wasting time on improving your weaknesses and concentrate all your efforts on improving your areas of strength only. Find someone that plays at the things you find really difficult and pay them to carry out these tasks for you. The time, energy and effort you will save by doing this, will turn into incredible value in the long run. Average people spend time to save money, super achievers spend money to save time and invest all their energy into only their strengths.
After making this new commitment to continually grow and expand in your area of strength. Now all is left to do in 2012 and beyond, is to convert your New Year’s resolutions into, time defined realistic goals and daily action plans, which you commit to act on every day. Turn your resolutions into meaningful goals this year and own them. They must stop being something you should do and finally reflect your deep rooted need to finally change. They must be goals that show your commitment to your future and prove your resolve to finally make them real, because once you have inked your goals and developed your action plans. You now have a written and mapped out route to get you from where you are to where you want to go. Now throw in a set of measurement criterion, which will allow you to measure your progress daily and you have most of the ingredients you need to ensure that your dreams finally become your reality.
Living the life of your dreams and realising your full potential is not difficult at all. The only thing stopping you from living that life and waking up excited about your day, every day, is your lack of commitment to carry out a few new daily routines and consistent behaviours. If your lack of discipline and commitment is all that is lacking, don’t you think it is time to finally change this?
Finally make and keep all your commitments with yourself and carry out the tasks you set yourself each day. You are going to arrive somewhere five years from now; my question to you is where. Is it going to be a random place that you hate or is it going to be a place of meaning and fulfilment.
The way to ensure it is exactly where you want to be, is to commit to growing your strengths, get someone else to do the things you hate, turn your resolutions into realistic goals, build and action plan that you act on every day, measure your progress daily and gradually turn these new success routines into your success habit set. It really is that easy, what are you waiting for, turn 2012 into your best year ever.
