Are you Serious about Inviting Meaning into Your Experience?

Are you Serious about Inviting Meaning into Your Experience?
When you finally pull the trigger and make the decision to go after one of your goals, no matter what that goal is, you must commit to achieve that goal with everything you have. Half-hearted approaches to anything always result in half heated results. Desmond Disraeli said it so eloquently, when he said “The secret to success is consistency of purpose” The way to achieve greatness and to enjoy fulfilment and meaning is not found sitting in your couch every night. It is the result of believing in yourself and committing 100 % to that purpose, doing whatever it takes to ensure you carry out your goal specific activities daily, necessary to succeed.
There is no Room for Compromise
When you are charting your course by creating your goals and then taking action daily to realise these, there is no room for compromise. Believe in your abilities and set high standards for yourself. You are capable of delivering at levels, which will astound even you, when you allow yourself to perform at your best. Stop limiting yourself, because of your self-doubt and allow yourself to deliver at the levels you are capable of delivering. I know you are magnificent and have what it takes, all you need to do is believe it too and the floodgates of success will open for you.
It does Require Some Sacrifice
As you know we, currently view time in a linear fashion, which means that we only have a limited supply of it available to us. The way you choose to utilise your available time will determine how your future will unfold. I recently spoke to a really inspiring group of young people at a university graduation ceremony. These young people were at the beginning of their lives, with the future spanning out before them.
A group of about 5 wonderful young people approached me after the talk to ask me for some advice on how they could follow their dream and become professional speakers themselves. I chatted to them for a long while and offered them a few pointers to help them move towards their dream. We really connected and so they invited me to join them that evening for a few drinks at the local bar. I was very tempted, but I was delivering another talk the next day and had planned to listen to the audio of my talk, which I had delivered that day. I record every talk I deliver and then listen to it afterwards, to study what works with my audience and what doesn’t. In effect I listen to the audience’s response to my talk. I try to discover what worked and what did not.
Discipline is Crucial – It is not always Easy
I could have easily given in to temptation and gone out for a few drinks with those wonderful people that night. My audience, would probably never have known, that I had not prepared for them the next day. The difference was that, I would have known and once your break the habit of self-discipline, things begin to slip and you begin to make more and more concessions, until you are no longer doing the things you need to do to achieve your goals. I know you believe this to be obsessive, but discipline is hard to build and simple to break. If you truly want success, then build the frame of discipline you need around you and never break it, as rebuilding it is very difficult.
Focus and Commit to your Success
If you are only wanting to cruise through life, never discovering meaning and fulfilment, then break your self-discipline, whenever it suites you. But if you really want to make a difference in the world, where you want to attract greatness into your world, then accept that your self-discipline is unbreakable. Focus on success and do what it takes daily and you will succeed. Break your self-discipline, whenever it suites you and you will remain trapped in average.
Keep the Commitments you make with yourself
You know how bad you feel when you break any commitments you have with yourself. How bad do you feel when you break a commitment you had not to eat sweets or fatty food, or when you don’t go to gym, when you have made a commitment to do so. On the other hand, how great does it feel, when you keep commitments you make with yourself? When you consistently visit the gym every day and watch what you eat, you do not only feel good, but you actually get to achieve your goal of improved health and a better looking body.
Achieving any goal, is a simple process of keeping your commitments, which you make with yourself and carrying out the goal specific actions daily, you need to perform, to achieve any goal. What could be simpler than that? The only thing standing between you and your dreams is your commitment towards yourself, where you will never break any commitments you make with yourself. Come on get off your butt and make a difference, you have everything you need, including the self-discipline necessary, for greatness. Now just do it.

What do People expect from you?

As you know becoming successful in life or in sales, is all about relationships. The better the relationships you are able to form with the people around you, the better will be the results you will be able to enjoy in the long run. Success in life or in sales Is not only based only on what you know, but more crucially on who you know.  The more people you know and the better the relationship you have with the right people, the greater will be your altitude in life. So look around your world and discover who you already know, or who you need to get to know, to support you, to achieve the results you want to achieve.
Getting to know the right people
In life, first decide with absolute clarity exactly what you want to achieve. Once you have this clarity look around your world and find people on a similar path to your own, or people who have achieved something similar to what you want to achieve.
In sales, discover exactly what you value proposition is, the benefits it offers and then look around your market and discover people, who need exactly what you offer.
Action Idea: Find innovative ways of connecting with these people and invest time and energy to develop long term mutually beneficial relationships with them. In life find people who have achieved what you want to achieve or who are on a similar path to your own. They have a recipe for success, which is working. All that is left for you to do is to discover their recipe and then to adopt it as your own.
So by spending time around these people, you are eventually going to mirror their behaviour. You will read the books they read, spend time at the places they visit, dress like they do, speak like they do and even eventually even think like they do. These crucial behavioural shifts, will over time allow you to emulate their recipe for success and you will gradually invite similar success into your own experience.
In sales once you have discovered who needs what you offer. Research the people you want to target and discover as much information about them and their needs as possible. This will equip you to explain your value proposition as clearly as possible, so that they can see how you can support them and be of service to them.
Spending time with these people
You can never approach people, either in life or in sales with a one sided, intent of picking their brains or just selling them something and then simply discarding them once you have learned all they have to teach or they have bought your product or service. If you want to be successful at finding the right people to spend time around, or discover the perfect customer to build sustainable lifelong relationship with. You must as with any relationship approach them from a standpoint of “how can I be of service to you” and how can we develop a mutually beneficial relationship, where both parties are going to be able to get something out of the relationship.
When you have this approach in life or in sales, people will feel your willingness to connect with them and will quickly see your commitment towards building long term mutually beneficial relationships with them too. Nobody wants to be around people who are only in the relationship for what they can get from them. Be authentic and have a genuine interest in ensuring there is always a modality of fair exchange in any relationship, which you build and you will not only find building relationships far easier, but you will also manage to get far more from each relationship that you do have.
Law of Reciprocity
People are programed to want to support other people. So when you are always focused on every relationship, looking for ways to be of service, people sense it and will automatically want to reciprocate and be of service to you in return. This approach of always looking for ways to be of service to others, before trying to get anything from any relationship, will stand you in good stead. People will see the authentic you and realise that you are not only around them for what you can get from them. They will respond to you in the same way and try to be of service to you in return.
Successful relationships in life or in sales are always about mutual benefit and fair exchange. When you adopt this philosophy and you approach every relationship including your sales relationships, from this standpoint, you will be equipped to build long term sustainable mutually beneficial relationships, with people, who will want to support you and help you achieve the results you want.

Success is an Inside Job

Firstly remember that anything you pursue will always elude you. So remove the thought of pursuing success from your mind. The way to invite any level of SUCCESS into your experience is by first accepting that “If it is to be then, it is up to me” and adopting this as your new adage. Secondly you must decide what success actually means to you and why achieving it is important to you. Once you have clarified these in your mind, you will be certain that what you are trying to achieve is actually aligned with what you really want and you will have the resilience to overcome the inevitable obstacles which will be placed in your path.
Action Idea: Once you are clear on what you want to achieve and why it is important to you, create a crystal clear vision for the future, using this picture of possibility, as the foundation to create it. Make sure you write your vision down and read it every day, as it will serve as your guide, which offers you direction into the future.
Who do you need to become
Instead of blustering forward and looking for what you need to do, to enjoy the success you desire. Try a different approach this time and look at your vision and instead ask a different question. Ask yourself who you need to become to attract the level of success you desire into your life? Remember you attract success by the person you become. Once you identify who you need to be to attract the success you desire and you invest energy and effort into becoming that person, you will gradually see your life transform and the success you desire will flow into your experience.
Set Goals and Take Action
Ensure that you create a set of goals, which will keep you on track, guiding you to become the type of person you need to be and to list all the things you want to achieve, to enjoy the success you desire. As soon as you have clarity on what you want, you need to convert these into action lists. These are lists, which when acted upon daily, will over time allow you to achieve all your goals. The secret to make this work for you is to have a daily routine, which ensures that you carry out at least five actions every day.
Measure your Performance
Your own internal measurements are always the most crucial, when it comes to assessing how you are doing, but to remain focused and get the full picture, you will also need to look beyond yourself and seek external feedback from your environment and the people around you, as you take action daily and progress towards achieving your goals. The challenge when looking for feedback from the people around you is to choose the people, who will offer you feedback very carefully. The people you choose must always have your best interests at heart and be interested in seeing you succeed.
You will not get reliable feedback form fair weather friends, competitive peers, or anyone who does not want to see you succeed or who does not have your best interests at heart. Make sure the people you select to assist you and offer feedback are in your camp, but at the same time are objective and honest. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by people who are jealous of your newfound success. Only pay attention to feedback from people who are on a similar path to you and who have similar goals to your own and who are actively working daily to achieve their own goals.
Take Responsibility and you will Succeed
As I said before adapt the adage of “If it is to be, it is up to me”. Accept 100 % responsibility for everything in your life and commit to take inspired goal specific action daily and nothing will be able to stop you from achieving what you desire.
Finally, always remember that no one else’s expectations or opinions really matter; even the people who you trust to offer you reliable feedbacks are ultimately only giving you their opinion. How you choose to use the information is always up to you. Learn to trust and believe in yourself and always allow your opinion to take precedence over anyone else’s and success is inevitable.

Are you Confusing Motion, with Inspired Action?

I see people all around me every day, who arrive home after yet another really long day at work, exhausted, yet they never seem to get the important things that they need to do done. This leaves them overwhelmed and unable to achieve their goals. Do you know anyone like that, or worse, is that how you feel about the treadmill, which is your own life? Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels every day, working really hard, yet you feel trapped and unable to make any headway towards achieving your goals and dreams. As Benjamin Franklin so aptly said “Don't confuse motion with action”.
Improve your Focus
Are you frantically busy every day, but no matter how hard you seem to work, you are unable to get any closer to achieving your goals and dreams. Well if this sounds like your life and you want things to change, then invest some time to read this article. I have packed a few really powerful tips into this article today, which I use personally every day, with great success in my own life. I am certain that if you use some or all of these tips, you will be able to get far more from your available time. The reason you are struggling to achieve your goals is not because you do not have enough time, it is because you lack focus and commitment.
Ditch your Routine
If you want anything in your world to change, you cannot change the president, economic conditions or interest rates, but you can change one thing – yourself. So if you want to change the results you are currently enjoying in your life then, accept that you must change the one thing you have 100 % control over, namely your attitude, level of inspired daily action, prioritisation and the amount of focus you give towards achieving your goals each day. It is time to ditch those daily routines, which have kept you trapped in average and for you to try a few of these new ones I will share with you today.
Meet your Future
Meet your future is simply where you schedule time every day to allow you to carry out your goal specific inspired actions. I refer to this time as “meeting your future” as it is a really important meeting, which you must conduct every day, to create the future you want. If you called these “meetings with me”, it would be far easier to cancel the meeting every day, because something more important came up. Your “meetings with your future” are more important than any other meeting you need to attend and so if something else really important does come up, you would reschedule, but never ever cancel one of these crucial meetings.
Your Big Five Daily Inspired Actions
Choose one of your goals and see what five daily inspired actions, if repeated daily will help you to achieve your goal.
If for example you were in sales and your goal was to smash your sales target in 2013, “Your Big Five” could be the following:
1)    Visit five customers with a purpose to build relationships..
2)    Qualify three prospects and make contact with them.
3)    Visit two prospects to show them your value proposition.
4)    Telephone five customers with a definite purpose to develop relationships and offer support.
5)    Follow-up with fifteen existing clients, via electronic media to develop relationship. This could include commenting on their blog, sending an email with an article they find of interest, sending birthday wishes or sending wishes via LinkedIn or Facebook, etc.
Your circumstances are unique to you, so to make “your Big Five” work for you; you must take a close look at your goal and choose the right five daily activities, which when repeated consistently, will help you achieve your goals. No matter how big the tree is, if you take five chops out of the tree every day with your axe, eventually the tree will fall down. Your goals are the same, if you take consistent action, where you carry out five goal specific actions daily, eventually you too will achieve anything, no matter how big your goal may be.
Get up Earlier
To make this work for you, you must first get clarity on your vision, goals and daily priorities; so that you can start each day empowered and focused on carrying out the tasks, which really matter. Once you have clarity on your vision and goals, you can use this time of day to connect with your vision and to review goals. This daily reminder will help you to reinforce your commitment towards carrying out the goal specific actions you need to carry out daily, to achieve your goals.
This time, first thing in the morning, free from distractions, is also a perfect time for conducting your meetings with your future. The only challenge with using this time to “meet your future” is that, should you need to call or meet with other people, it would be impossible at this time of day.
Make a Difference this Year
If you want your life to change and to finally start achieving your goals, then try some or all of these tips I have shared with you today. You have nothing to lose, but disappointment and so much to gain in the form of fulfilment and meaning. Dare to do things differently this year and you will see miracles start to happen. Your goals will no longer be just thoughts in your mind that never materialise, they will finally become something tangible, which you will live and enjoy every day.
