What Does Success Mean to You?

What is success?

Have you got any idea what success means, what it means to you specifically? Explore the idea of success for a moment and try to decide what it means to you. Does it mean?

1) Having power and fortune.

2) Fame and fortune.

3) Following your dreams and loving what you do.

4) Financial freedom.

5) Experiencing great joy and happiness

6) Living a life filled with meaningful relationships?

7) Living a life of philanthropy

8) Living a life in the service of others.

Now answer this question. What does success look like for you in your future, what are you doing, what do you have and how do you feel? Think about this answer for a moment and define all three elements. Use the answers provided above to help you decide what is important to you.

Now take a look at your life and see how you allocate your resources of time, money and energy. This will give you a pretty good idea of what you value most. Do you spend your time on the following?

1) Working.

2) Building Relationships

3) Creating wealth.

4) Living a full and enjoyable life

5) Giving to others.

6) Taking as much as you can from your environment

Explore the answers you have come up with. These answers will define what you value most in your life. Compare them to your concept of success. Is this value system aligned with what you believe success must look like in your future? If it is then you are living a congruent life, where your values are aligned with your concept of success. If you are like the majority of people out there, your belief about what success means to you and the way you are living your life right now are out of alignment. Nature is all about balance.

So when your values are not in alignment with what you are attempting to achieve. You will experience stress. Either in the form of constantly not achieving the results you desire or you will need to push yourself every day to carry out activities that are not aligned with who you are. This book is all about finding balance in your life. So have the courage to explore and define the tings you really value. This is not what society expects of you or what your family needs. It is about the unique part of you. That part of you where you store your own values and beliefs.

It is a well known fact that we perform best when we operate in balance with our values and belief systems. When we try to perform outside our value or belief systems and our daily actions are not congruent with our true needs and vision for the future. We tend to feel overwhelmed and we quickly give up and return to equilibrium or the familiarity of our comfort zones. If you want to become a super achiever, then it crucial you answer the two questions above really honestly. Until you do you will continue to flounder through life, never reaching your full potential.

To create balance and harmony in your life, you need to do one of two things.

1) Revisit your definition of success. Is it really what you want in your future? Or is it something you think you want? Can you reformulate your definition of success, so that it is in alignment with your current values and beliefs?

2) If your definition of what success looks like in your future is accurate, but it is not aligned with your current value and belief system. Then you must build a plan that will allow you to begin changing your belief and value system. Until you do this you will never achieve the type of success you desire.

Option 2 is a far harder choice and requires a lot of dedication and effort to achieve. There tools offered in section three that can assist you to master this in your life.

Success is not arriving at a destination one day. Success starts the moment you become actively engaged in becoming the person you most want to be and you get to consistently do all the the things that make you feel good and are in line with the positive side of your internal guidance system. I believe that when you are living according to your life purpose, doing everything really well, when you want to do it, feeling complete joy and fulfillment, you have found success. This is my definition of success – your definition may be completely different to mine. Have the courage to explore and define what success means to you. It is the foundation for understanding what you are aiming for in the future and one of the easiest ways for developing a deep rooted reason why you must be successful.

In reality Success is something you attract by the person you become”. As you move along the path of realizing all your goals and dreams. All the new skills you acquire, the knowledge you gain, the new success habits you develop and resources you gather. Are what makes success both achievable and sustainable. Stop asking yourself the question "What if I fail?", rather ask "What do I need to do to succeed?" Work to answer this question and then have the courage to simply pull the trigger and to make it happen for you. Water hollows out a rock, not by force, but by its relentless daily action. Apply this universal law in your life and you can achieve anything.
