Almost everyone I have met wants to make a
difference during their lifetimes, to leave some sort of a legacy after they
have completed their last revolution around the sun. Making a difference is not
just about volunteering to assist people, who come from a less advantaged
background than you do. If you want to begin making a real difference, it is
time to shift your thinking away from seeing making a difference as an event or
something you must do. Make the shift today and start to see, making a difference,
as a new way of being. See it as a new way of conducting yourself. This shift albeit
small and subtle, will allow you to really start making a real and lasting difference,
every day in your own unique way.
What Effect do you have on Your
World?
Everyone that you come into contact with on a daily
basis can be either positively or negatively affected by your presence. As you
go through your day you are both the cause and effect of many different
situations, which will develop in the future. From a very simplistic
perspective, you are either someone, who will create solutions or create
challenges for the people in your environment.
Think about your life, past and present, try to
visualise everyone you have had contact with over the years. They either helped
you to find solutions and contentment in your life or they caused you to
encounter challenges, which you had to solve. People are either the cause of
contentment and joy, where they energise you and add value to your life or they
drain your energy and bring you challenge.
I hear you say that there are also neutral people
that do not affect you at all. My experience has shown me that the only
difference between recognising someone as a value adder or an energy sapper is
the amount of time you spend with them. After spending enough time with anyone
they will fall into either of the two categories.
Explore your Past
Dare to explore your past interactions with these
same people once again. This time ask a different question. How did these
people feel about their interaction with you?
Were you someone that added value to their lives or were you the person
that sapped their energy and caused them discomfort? If you cannot answer
emphatically that you are someone, who adds value to everyone around you, it is
time to make a few small, yet crucial changes to the way you think and present
yourself to the world.
Getting Started
To begin the process of changing the attitude that you
are projecting to the world, try to introduce these few simple ideas into your
life:
- Wake
up every day and consciously start your day in a state of grace and
gratitude. Invest at least five minutes at the start of your day exploring
all the wonderful things you have going on in your life, for which you can
be really grateful. This may seem difficult at first, but with practice,
you will be amazed at all the good you have going on when you dare to
search and discover.
- Aspire
to encourage and assist as many people as possible throughout your day.
Look around your world with an open and caring mind-set and ask a better
question. “Who can I help and how can I help them to be happier and more
fulfilled”? I do offer a caveat here, give freely to inspiration and never
empower desperation.
- Try
to only make deposits of energy and genuine authenticity into the lives of
everyone you come into contact with. Maintain a positive outlook
throughout the day and constantly aspire to exude good positive energy.
- Smile
as often as possible and be willing to share your grace with everyone
around you. A smile costs nothing, but adds so much to your world. Share
as many smiles as possible every day.
Share your Grace Freely – It is
more Abundant than you could ever imagine
Your ability to share your grace with everyone
around you is limitless. Begin to give freely to inspiration and remain committed
to make deposits of energy and grace into the lives of others, all the time.
When you live in this modality, the same wonder and grace you consistently
radiate into your world, will be reflected back at you. You will become the
recipient of incredible blessings and grace wherever you go. You can very
quickly become a person of value and someone, who can make a real difference to
the world. All that is required is a small shift towards grace and a
willingness to try to make a real difference to everyone you touch within your
environment.
Grace comes from Consistent
Commitment
Whatever gets measured gets done. So set yourself a
goal each day to begin spreading your blessings and grace. Stay committed to
keep doing this until your attitude of grace and blessing becomes an integral
part of who you are. What you really want is to create a grace and blessings
habit set. The person that will benefit the most from this new attitude is
YOU!!!!
